From left to right: Northern carmine bee-eater (Merops nubicus), White-fronted bee-eater (Merops bullockoides) and European bee-eater (Merops apiaster).
Free-roaming in the tropical hall.
Olmen is the only European zoo to keep more than two bee-eater species together in one exhibit.
Because I feel like pictures of free-flying birds are always much better with a list of what all else roams freely throughout the hall, I decided I'd try and whip up a list!
Note: I've only ever visited the Olmense zoo twice, so there may or may not be a few mistakes. Here goes:
List of free-roaming species in the Tropenhal, as of 20/07/2017: Non-passerine:
California quail, Callipepla californica
Crested wood-partridge, Rollulus rouloul (?)
