The Brookfield Zoo's Master Plan | The Virtual Zoo yt

My own take on the Brookfield Zoo Chicago's new master plan, a combination of information from the zoo's own releases, what has been said in forums on this site, and some speculation. Any corrections would be appreciated as this is a very extensive video.
Well done! I really enjoyed this video and the video clips (thank you for providing the credits for the zoos from which the clips were borrowed!). I've never been to the Chicago Brookfield Zoo, but I feel like I learned a lot about it through this video!

As a general rule, I've stopped being excited about Master Plans because: 1) a lot of never gets built, 2) what gets build falls short of expectations because of shortfalls in budgets and space, and 3) Master Plan drawings are rarely realistic and they certainly don't take into account the practicalities of maintain animals in small spaces 24/7. With that said, I liked the Australia, mixed-species Africa, Bongo Forest, and mixed-species South American plans! The Tropical Forest exhibit sounds like it's just a revamped (and much better) primate house and I wish that they would call it what it is instead of giving the impression that it's something more comprehensive. I've seen it said several times on Zoo Chat that "elephants ruin everything" and I agree completely! Here's another example of a lot of spaces being devoted to a handful of individual animals at the expense of something more interesting and educational. My home zoo has done the exact same thing much to my chagrin!
Thank you again - this was a great video and overview of the Master Plan!
