That is not a Sabre toothed cat (Family: Machairodontinae). The animal in this photo is actually not really even a mammal, but a member of the order Therapsida, that order belongs to an extinct clade known as Synapsida (mammal-like reptiles).

However I cant quite figure out the specific genus or species that this specimen would belong to

@MightyOrca, would you happen to have any ideas ?

Not to digress further, but I meant to say "Subfamily: Machairodontinae" not Family: Machairodontinae, I am sure many members on here know this, but whenever the letters "nae" are the last 3 letters, it is a subfamily name, when "dae" are at the end, it is a family name. This is a rule for the kingdom Anamalia, Plantae is different.

Anyways, back on topic now, I think I got a more detailed indentification on this animal, it is a member of the Gorgonopsidae family, I want to say the genus Gorgonops.
