Circa 2013. A pirarucu with a hunched back/kyphosis inside the AquArapaima tank. It is possible that this individual damaged its back during an attempt to jump out of the tank, or attacked by other pirarucus. It has a shape that resembles a gun.
I think the Hunchback of Amazonia has been in SWA since around 2008 or so, AFAIK. As of now, the Hunchback of Amazonia isn't around anymore, probably died or phased out.
This is very likely from birth (Pretty much with most fishes with deformities like this), not one made from a incident. Fishes with physical deformities has their own morbid appeals for local hobbyists and aquarias, so this are likely to be deliberately added.
@Rizz Carlton And it was way back before its popularity in recent years. I hope Dunia Air Tawar doesn't add a Hunchback of Amazonia into their collection when they're done with their pirarucu exhibit.
