Bornean Orangutans demonstrating how they use their complex climbing stuctures in Orangseum, Apenheul. The animals can move between the islands by glass fiber swaying poles connected with ropes, and this extra flexibility gives a more natural shape to their movements. There is shallow water between the orang islands, but deep near by the public area.
In the last picture You can see what will happen if the water level is not high enough between the islands.
Of course, nice to see them during climbing , but I meant under the term of "the use of flexible poles" not only by the animals, but even more by the primate park, referred to such a proper and clever contemplation and design.
That viewing platform in the 4th thumbnail looks great ... it appears as though you'd feel in amongst them, with no glass separating you. Are the structures nearest that platform hotwired, as it looks as though the orangs could climb onto it from that angle ?

@ GillP, there is no hotwire, all the exhibit surrounded by water, You can see this platform from a different angle, see picture no. 1-2. In the other two photos there is another viewing area, both of these are great indeed.
