For a while, I didn't! While I am willing to go to the zoo on colder days (as long as it isn't windy), my mom usually isn't and I always go with her. Because of that if I'm at the zoo its usually warm enough for them to be out. The best time to see them is late morning to early afternoon and because of the time I usually arrive and what my usual route is I tend to be in this area of the zoo during that time period.
@Andrew_NZP Early afternoon is when I usually get to that area, too, but I do tend to go on cooler days. Almost went today but I didn't want to deal with bridge traffic coming back
