You know what I think they may have had the two bear species next to each other and they may be two different species pictured now that I look at the pics side by side.......
This is clearly an Asiatic black bear, while the other photo is obviously a sloth bear. There is no doubt in my mind, and when I visited Zoo Miami (it was actually called Miami Metrozoo at the time) in December of 2008 the two bears rotated in the same exhibit.
Yeah they must have been on side by side exhibits for the pictures to have been taken one right after the other. I think it is still called Miami metrozoo but in the gallery section I found it under zoo Miami.
