Three-banded Finger Skink (Larutia trifasciata)

Bukit Fraser, November 2024
A rarely-seen litter-dwelling skink of the Malaysian highlands. The photo was taken on my phone so the quality isn't the greatest because the skink was so small - to give an idea of its size, the surface it is on is a sealed road and in life I couldn't even see the body markings apart for the bold stripes around the neck. I thought it was a tiny blind-snake when I first saw it because when moving rapidly Larutia wriggle along like a hyperactive snake.
