I see they've updated the death of the last captive one by sixty years!( to 1996)
yes, new information came to light recently showing that Benjamin didn't actually die, he was just a very deep sleeper.

Well I see I've been going off the wrong name this whole time. Chlidonias, please change my username to DogHeadedPouchDogAlive, please. Thank you.

That's the Westbury Zoo one that I've been telling you about.

Couldn't they find a better picture?

Did you get the 'Westbury Zoo' information from the radio interview with the old chap (cramp?) about his memories of the Hobart Zoo Thylacine(s) when he was a seven year old- or was it from some other source?

Re the picture-I think its a photo of one of those many badly mounted taxidermies, though I can't remember where it is offhand.

Yeah it's a well known mount, but I can't recall where it is either.

Yes I did get the Westbury info from the Cramp interview, recollections of a seven year old, eighty five or so years later, pretty solid wouldn't you say.

As I say I don't really take it seriously (and of course was joking in my previous post) but although it's a terribly long time ago I don't think it's impossible for the memory of something such as another tiger turning up to have stuck in his mind. So I'd say it deserves consideration. I am looking into it as best I can, but so far finding a trace of Westbury Zoo has been tricky enough.

I did e-mail the journalists involved, who replied saying they were looking into the matter, they also asked me for info about thylacines exported to overseas zoos in the later years, which I gave them. Heard nothing since.
