Tibetan Golden Cat (Catopuma temminckii tristis)

The HUGE old male, nicknamed “A-Zhai” (loosely translated as "nerdy"), came to Chongqing as a rescued animal in 2009. The zoo also acquired a young female in 2019. Despite several attempts to breed the pair, all efforts failed and the female was killed by the male in an accident last year.

Sad news. This magnificent individual, also the last cat in Chongqing, had passed away on July 6. He was at least 15 years old.
