Tiger Enclosure

Wild Asia Monorail- Tiger Enclosure. April 27, 2013. The zoo alternates displaying Malayan and Amur Tigers in this exhibit. On my visit it was a three year-old male Amur Tiger. Personally I think they should just perminately display Malayan Tigers here since they display Amur Tigers only on Tiger Mountain.

The zoo has such a large Amur Tiger collection already, and with breeding among the tigers finally starting up again, more Amurs are being born. My guess is that they don't want any of their tigers to be off-exhibit and indoors too much, so they display some Amur Tigers at Tiger Mountain, and rotate the Malayans and Amurs here so that all the tigers will get a decent amount of time on-exhibit.
