Tiger Trail New Plan

For some of us this is the most eagerly anticipated development at either San Diego park in several years.

I don't know much about SDWAP, but isn't there already a large (Sumatran?) tiger exhibit? Is this being replaced with the new tiger trail? Is it going to be in the same location?

Nearby, but not in the same location. Not sure what - if anything - they will do with the old large exhibit. The equally large old lion exhibit next to it has remained empty ever since the newer lion camp exhibit opened. (For a while the old lion exhibit was going to house dholes - they even had it printed on the map for a while - but that never happened.)

I think this is going to be an interesting project. The lack of anything else means the Tiger exhibits will be much better instead of just place haphazardly like before. The interesting thing is that the path at the end goes down straight toward the bridge above the old tiger and lion instead of toward the existing path. These exhibits seem like a set up for what may be coming next because their is a clear disconnection between condor ridge and the world gardens areas with the rest of the park. They've pushed all their main attractions toward the African Field exhibits and there is a lot of developable space that is difficult to design because of the steep grade.

I just checked the zoo's website and there is a spot to donate to new leopard exhibits. Instead of being built in cat canyon, the plan is for them to be located closer to panda canyon, which I think is a good choice geographically speaking.
