These new tigers at São Paulo aren't Siberian/Amur ones. They're unfortunately Generic/Hybrid ones, wrongly labeled as "Bengal tigers". Such a shame to see that the Spectacled bears lost their new exhibit for them...
@Velas Thank you for the correction! I would love to see a Spectacled Bear exhibit here too, but seems like the Tigers are very popular among the visitors.
@twilighter Yeah, everything was going well for the bears (they even acquired a female to breed with their older male) and the exhibit was going to be a huge upgrade for them, but the opportunity of having tigers again, even if generic ones, changed their minds up. I'm really hoping that in the future they move these tigers to one of the large predator moats (hopefully getting pure individuals as well) and getting the bears back to their home.
@twilighter Yes, that lion area is actually their big cat/large carnivore area. It held lions, tigers (Siberians, white and generic ones), Brown bears and American black bears, but since most of these were long gone and the zoo had a baby boon of lions recently, they transformed that area into a "exclusive" lion area, in order to not make the exhibits overcrowded.
