To me it is a Red Lechwe! 8th September 2012

Red Lechwe and Kafue Flats Lechwe are not synonymous - the former is K. l. leche and the latter K. l. kafuensis. :p

This is a (very fine) photo of the latter! :D
 
Fair enough, but they are still Red Lechwe to me! (Remember I live in the 1970s! Had the Kafue Flats Lechwe been invented then? :) )

Thank-you for the compliment on the photo, taken as I marched back to the parrot aviaries for the final few minutes of my visit - only 2 1/4 hours as I did not arrive in Paignton until 15.09. I had a full day there the next day - some photos to come.

According to the IUCN Red List site it was described in 1963. :D

After so many years of Chester's all-female herd I'm always impressed simply to see one with horns! :D
