Part of the Village House display at the Zoo\'s new Kidzworld zone. The house is modeled after rural dwellings of the 70s, and showcases animals which inhabited these houses. Antique furniture, wax figures, larger-than-life insect models and live animals are incorporated into this rather bizarre exhibit.
The display in the photo showcases 2 reptile species common in Southeast Asian villages. The geckos are housed in the glass case behind the wax man, while the python is in the compartment below - which is supposed to be a lavatory! This display scene is based on true accounts of reticulated pythons finding their way into sewage pipes and surfacing in toilets!
