Toledo Zoo 2003 - Aspinall-style primate enclosure

Aspinall-style primate enclosure. Looks cheap and simple, but as Aspinall proved over in England with his breeding records, it works. I wonder if Toledo modelled theirs after Aspinall; but at least over in Columbus they looked to Aspinall when they designed the massive famous Gorilla enclosure.

An excerpt from my 2008 review:

Primate Forest - some of these exhibits are a little small, but they seem to work for the monkeys and apes. Diana monkeys, colobus monkeys, Allen's swamp monkeys, Francois' langurs, white-cheeked gibbons and DeBrazza's monkeys all rotate through the different habitats, and there is a sign showing photos of all 6 possible animal species that could possibly be inside a particular enclosure. That in itself is a great idea, but the space given to the primates could be improved. While we were there the Francois' langurs were going crazy, as 4 of them were tearing around the wire cage for at least 10 minutes straight.

The Primate Forest has been recently completly renovated.Although it appears work as been completed being thats its winter we have yet to see any of the zoos primate inhabitants in their new exhibits.

The newly renovated Primate Forest is now completly finished and open to the public.It is exactly the same style as the original design perhaps with slightly larger enclosures.All monkey species mentioned by Snowleopard are still on exhibit with addition of a group of Ring Tailed Lemurs and by the way the Francois Languars are still going crazy lol.
