The common name of this fish is a misnomer, similar to how the regular form of this species sheds its juvenile coloration as they transition into adults, the "Golden Giant Snakehead" does the same. Instead of a metallic purple or green sheen, this aquarium variant takes on a more copper-like sheen, sometimes even a rusty coloration, when mature.
