I think there probably is, but if I have ever been told it I have forgotten. I assume the keepers left it there because either they care more about money than welfare, or the person who trained them does.
Huh. I know that it is good luck if you can land a coin on a turtle's back (hence turtle pools always being full of coins). I didn't know about notes though.
