The glass panels on the floor -- are they where the otters can swim underneath you?

So do I, though I rarely see them use it
Above this is a place where the white-cheeked gibbon can pass over the walkwaly, which he uses quite often.

Isn't that the way it goes? I like the concept of some of the exhibits at the zoo. Almost like somehow you're incorporated in the exhibit.

Yes, our new director, Randy Wisthoff, came from Omaha, and was 2nd under Lee Simmons (builder of the Lied Jungle and Desert Dome), so he has a knack for creating interesting exhibits such as this one.

This under-foot passage idea has been done with penguins as well. Penguins might be a bit more inclined to use it than otters

On my visit to Kansas City Zoo this past summer I saw the otters using the underwater pathway, as well as one of the gibbons lounging overhead. These kind of innovative exhibits are marvellous to behold, and I can remember being entranced by penguins swimming beneath my feet at the modern Indianapolis Zoo. Of course underwater tunnels in aquariums are become quite common, so I wonder what animal establishments will come up with next?
