Until I saw this picture I did not realize that Minnesota Zoo has an extensive coral reef exhibit. Does anyone know if this was a feature of the original Tropics Trail, or was it added in a later remodeling?

This was once a dolphin exhibit. When the zoo was in design phase (1970s) it was supposedly going to be a river dolphin exhibit, but they couldn't be sourced so two Bottlenose Dolphins lived here instead. When the Beluga Whales were sent to SeaWorld in 1987, the dolphins moved outside to the larger whale tank, and this tank was converted into the coral reef exhibit in 1991.
