Tuatara Exhibit in the Islands at Te Wao Nui, Auckland Zoo.

This excellent exhibit houses Tuatara, which although inside, recieve natural light (and possibly ventilation?) from skylights. The opposite wall has five smaller exhibits for native geckos and skinks.

I am one of many ZooChatters who really appreciate your excellent review and photos of this wonderful, $16 million development. In regards to what appears to be an outstanding tuatara exhibit, are those heat lamps on either side of the habitat?

Yes, i think they are heatlamps, although they were not turned on when I visited.

Incidentally, there are 3 tuatara visible in this photo, although one is largely obscured by the reflection on the right-hand window.
