I really liked the walk-through aviary in the Pets section at Twycross, where a nice range of common seed-eating birds are kept in an aviary designed as a garden. The species include these Gouldians, zebra finches, quail (painted if I remember properly), Java sparrows, budgies, Bourkes and turquoisines (I have probably forgotten some).

A pity I missed that area- I still like seed-eaters having kept them many years ago. Gouldians are beautiful- at least the 'original' forms are- but not those unnatural white-breasted forms that aviculturists have produced-why bother with such a beautifully colourful species to deliberately make it less colourful??.
