Forgot I had taken this pic back in Nov 2010 on the outskirts of Dubai, so now wondering what it is? Any ideas?

Thanks Chlidonias.

It's apparently native to South Asia and it's not a good flier so how would you think it has got to the UAE?

there appears to be some dispute as to whether it is native or not, but most likely it is introduced (as are also black francolin and chukar). It is very common in the UAE. The only native galliformes are the sand partridge and common quail (the latter mainly as a passage migrant).

The grey francolin was introduced accidentally in parts of the UAE.
