@snowleopard It is impressive, certainly, but like any tunnel-based exhibit, it suffers when there is a crowd of any size (especially with pushchairs and paraphernalia). The nearby open-air exhibit, for African (or possibly Humboldt) penguins is, in some ways, equally attractive - and doesn't suffer in this way. Best penguin exhibit in Europe? Certainly one of - but not the (in my opinion). It's one area where the UK can hold its head high amongst European zoos: Edinburgh, London, Bristol, possibly Chester after its refurbishment - all are very good. In mainland Europe, Berlin is excellent, Wroclaw's exhibit (as part of the Afrykarium) is superb, the old Emmen was wonderful (not seen the new one).
