Vermillion Flycatcher and riverine habitat - Texas

June 2015. Not a great photo. If unacceptable, please delete.
Did you see the Common Black-Hawks and Gray Hawks there?

No sadly. We did see Greater Roadrunners, Scaled Quail, Turkey Vultures, Mourning Doves, Blue Grosbeak (?), Raven (unsure if Common or Chihuahuan - size, familiarity with Alaskan birds, and geography have me hoping Chihuahuan...but who knows), a Mexican Jay, a couple other yet unidentifieds, and a Barn Owl (which flew through the headlights on the road to Marathon). We also saw a couple of Hawks roosting near the Border Control Point north of the park..but I don't know which species.

There's a Black-Hawk nesting area near the campground.

I did see signs in the area alerting visitors to the critical nesting habitat. Our Texas schedule was upended and my leisurely plans...kinda morphed into a key highlight windshield tour. Maybe next year.
