The day I took the photo is the first day I didn't see him go for a swim after he has eaten. He usually loves it,and was in the lake for about an hour the last time I was there just before Christmas.Every time I come away after seeing him swim, dive and play in the lake I think he looks the happiest animal I have ever seen in captivity.Totally content and chilled out.
The main lake in the second enclosure looks like it isnt going to be anywhere near as big,so we will see how he uses that one when its eventually finished. There is also going to be a "paddling pool" at one end about 2 feet deep that will be interesting to see how its utilised by polar bears and the staff (feeding or enrichment possibilities)
