Somewhere in the 1970-ties.
May 1968 Burger´s zoo was the first collection on the European continent which opened a drive-through exibit. They started with 4 lion-enclosures but already a year later on of the sections was changed into an area for african hoofstock and monkeys. With this new sections the name ´Safari park´was thought-out. Later numberous other collections copied this name but it is also a Dutch invention !
