Well seeing as this enclosure is for Snow Leopards and that they can and do live on rocky ledges with little or no plants I cannot see to much of a problem withit.
This is a very good point - whatever other problems there are with this development at least they've gone for real rock rather bringing out the mock rock nozzles!
It certainly resembles a Rocky scree slope in the Himalayas well enough,
though I dread to think what it would have looked like with Fake rock a la Colchester style.
What interests me is how visible/active the Snow Leopards will be once they have settled in, as ultimately its their behaviour on which the whole success(or otherwise) of this exhibit hinges.
I was told that it has been designed so the leopards can be seen as much as possible and so that it can help to replicate their behaviour their behaviour in the wild so hopefully they will be quite active. There are parts where hey can go off show if they want to. Howveer certain rocks have been positioned to heat in the sun so the leopards go there.
