Giant Eland

View from the outside

Seeing these photos of quite a diversity of Costa Rican bat species, I have some regrets not taking a taxi to Bat Jungle when I was in Santa Elena. First I planned to walk to it, but in the end I decided not to go because of the distance. I did visit the Ranario, seeing some nice frog species, but these bats would have been a nice addition to my mammal list.

Mammals species are my entire focus so this was a must visit for me as well as Tirimbina which added around 10 bat species by itself.

I had a similar regret today, when I found out that Taman Safari Prigen was only about 1 hour from Malang airport which I had flown into to see the Batu Secret Zoo. Granted I didn't have any extra time in Malang, but I guess I could've shifted my flights around. Had I did I likely would've been able to see 4/5 lifers in Sunda Clouded Leopard, Javan Warty Pig, 2/3 tarsier species (all were off show at Taman Safari Bogor) and Philippine Slow Loris.
