Is that hole above the middle viewing window so the inhabitants can crawl out and climb around above the visitors?

Yep its a hole for the Sloths to go wandering about the house.

Is this the zoo that's really successful in breeding them?

Yes its is they have a great record with Tamandua and Giant Anteaters.
