Are those a couple of ZooChatters standing in the foreground? It is interesting to browse through the ZooChat gallery and see all of the large elephant houses in European zoos, as in North America there are many elephant exhibits that are built in sunnier climates and thus there is not any opportunity for indoor viewing of pachyderms. Zoos like North Carolina, Nashville, Dallas and Oakland (arguably 4 of the biggest and best elephant habitats in any American zoo) have barns that are not able to be viewed by the general public. I can imagine a sense of frustration in the off season when elephants may or may not be on view, but in many major European zoos elephants can still be seen in the dead of winter.
