Oh dear, not very much thought gone into landscaping this enclosure,if any. When I saw it in an un-finished state in april I thought it was going to be for the wolves. This isn't very tropical rain forest like is it.:(
Another missed opportunity where a good enclosure could have been created instead of a mediocre one.

I would say even mediocre was going to far sub standard fits far better.

Without wanting to dismiss the other criticisms, does anyone else worry if that fence is safe?:(

Yes. The fence is so low that the Jaguars could probably get over without much trouble if they really wanted to. Plus, just look at the placement of the house to the fence and you know that this is probably a disaster waiting to happen.

The house/fence placement concerned me also. The house walls are hot wired but cats do find ways round things. Also as well as if its high enough, whether the fence is sunk deep enough. Some years ago at a Zoo in France two Jaguars dug their way out of their enclosure and killed a child.

These are very scary cats- probably the most dangerous of all. Seeing them in anything but conventional roofed housing always makes me nervous, not only here, Dartmoor had an open enclosure for them too- though their last(?) Jaguar died recently. Chester does too- though I trust their designs far more than this.

Of course, the fences around the Chester enclosure hit something like 6 metres high in parts, and have no climbable structures next to them :p

I certainly know that Jaguars are one of the species I would be the most afraid of escaping from their enclosure whilst I was visiting a collection.....

In the words of a very experienced (and now senior) UK carnivore man, "they always give the impression of wanting an opportunity to rip your head off"...
