View of the new Orang-Utan Housing

Is the new housing a significant change from what was there before? Those ladders look as if they've been in place for a few decades! Is the new development a big improvement on what was previously in place? Also, where are the orangs?

The part at the back is indeed the original indoor quarters- unchanged by the look of it as that is the old shelving and climbing'furniture', as you noticed. The big rectangle was the angled public viewing window, now removed. They have extended out into the passageway which was the public viewing area- it looks like beyond that too- and doubled the height, at least in the extension. Public now look in from windows on the outside. Must have increased the orangs' indoor living space x 3(or even 4?) approx. Big and long needed improvement.:)

The dated outdoor area may be unchanged but totally new accomodation is planned soon anyway.

Orangs? there somewhere- outdoors maybe.. I can see the sllde door to outside(in the old part) is open.

And a thankyou to Zoogiraffe for putting up some good photos of this development so I can finally view it!:)

The orangs were indeed outside; I felt that the redeveloped housing was a massive improvement on the state of affairs when last I visited the collection on 29/12/2011.

One question, is the 2nd( the left hand side) half of the old section now offshow/hidden by the new construction?

Pretty much all you can really see is the new build on the left,as it seems they have increased the size of the off-show holding cages!
