View of the re-done Penguin exhibit

The new fake rock work has given this enclosure ,a new lease of life,as it now doesn't show its age and actually looks quite modern now!

This makeover has actually improve it a lot and it looks much better now. Not so sure about the 'feeding' annex though- seems pointless to me.

I agree 100% with your comment, all they need to do now is get the filter in the pool to work,so that the water isn't green!!

That does look a lot better than before, I do agree with the previous comments though. A filter would be great, would improve the underwater viewing 100%, the extension does seem totally pointless though.
All in all, Twycross have done something that actually appears decent. Maybe there will be jam tomorrow after all...?

There's a big difference costwise though, between these several recent makeovers and facelits, and large new builds for Carnivores or Primates.;)

I'm thinking that 'Kuno' is never going to happen, if it does it won't be for a while! My point is that they've made a start in the right direction with the revamped enclosures and they're showing commitments to the apes by trying to get them into larger groups and more suitable surroundings.
If things keep on progressing like this then Twycross may be able to turn things around! :D

They were (at least partly) forced into this by the Zoo Licensing Authorities over the state of the 'Chimp Row' enclosures. But yes, they have finally moved nearly all the Chimpanzees now, for whatever reason. Although the 'houses' they are now living in are really only one stage better- the inside quarters are certainly an improvement but outside they aren't much better than what they have left and actually have less climbing facilities- because of the escape factor presumably. But all in all its an improvement as the groupings are becoming bigger and so more natural.
