In terms of views this tierpark is certainly impressive, from several points you can actually see the alps including small glaciers and on approach by train you pass one of those magnificent swiss lakes.

I think however that you overestimate the size of some of the enclosures, they were for sure spacious, but not as incredibly large as they may appear on the photo.

Are the cormorants captive (therefore with flight restraint I would assume) or wild as can be seen in many zoo ponds?

The cormorants will be captive ones, so wing clipped. Wild cormorants are not too common in Switzerland and I cannot recall seeing one in the past 2,5 months here...
