Walrus Habitat

About 1/2 of the exhibit that is home to the two Pacific and the one Atlantic.

Those two are actually the pair of Pacific Walrus. The Atlantic is just in the smaller pool just below where this photo was taken.


I feel honoured to have been able to see her. In addition to the harp seals it really made an average day at the aquarium into an amazing one.

Ohh, woops , is there much difference between the too types of walrus?

also, it puzzles me on why it is more popular to exhibit pacific rather than atlantic walrus

I think it is a matter of supply more so than demand. To the general public, a walrus is a walrus. Also, the Atlantic is much rarer and have never been exhibited as often. The only reason she is in captivity is that she was rescued at a young age and was unable to be released, otherwise the aquarium would only have the pair of Pacific.
