There were rumors of the aquaria getting these sharks in the past, which received backlash from the public, though the aquarium denied ever considering that.
@Rizz Carlton I was told that the aquarium pushed hard to get at least one Whale Shark into its facility in the large Ocean Tunnel Tank. There's this Whale Shark artwork on the outside, plus a big model Whale Shark on the inside...but no actual Whale Sharks have ever been showcased here. It's probably for the best!
