Thank you. This is a wild one, but there were a ton of them flying in and out of the flamingo pond. Later at Zoo Miami they were all over the outdoor café looking for handouts. White ibis are like pigeons in south Florida.
they do look like that but it is because the outer feathers are black. If you look closely you can see them against the background (just!).
Look on google images for photos of this species flying against the sky and you'll see what I mean.
