Oddly, if I'm referring to Connochaetes in general I always say wildebeest. But the species are always Brindled Gnu and White-tailed Gnu.

He's very photogenic. I took a similar shot last year but standing still- I like the action in this one.

Hopefully the calf will do well- they are more settled now than Newquay's pair were when their calf was born.
 
This is the bull, Rooney; he often stands and stares at visitors from the back, and though it looks aggressive he's actually a big wuss. ;) The female Orana is hand-reared and approaches people more, but she's still quite feisty apparently.
