whitebait tank

a 60,000 litre tank housing galaxiids (the young of which are called whitebait and eaten as a delicacy in New Zealand). Five species of galaxiids make up the whitebait catch, although the bulk of them (as in this tank) are inanga (Galaxias maculatus). The other species are koaro (Galaxias brevipinnis), banded kokopu (Galaxias fasciatus), giant kokopu (Galaxias argenteus) and short-jawed kokopu (Galaxis postvectis). There are some koaro and kokopu spp in this tank as well.
