I often watch the 20 wild boars that live in a 2-acre enclosure at the Greater Vancouver Zoo in Canada, and so to see this individual in a metal cage is simply depressing. Is there more to the exhibit than outdated bars?
Whole zoo is full of bars and cages. Most of them are very small, but some looks a little better (aviary for birds of prey). Ungulates (ponys, deer, lama, buffalo) have quite nice enclosures. But the problem is that animals are not safe there (Macedonia Daily.org: BITOLA'S ZOO ATTACKED BY WOLVES).
