Wild Eastern Ratsnake (Pantherophis alleghaniensis)

05/07/2024 - Spotted near the Elephant Community Center
It looks like even the Smithsonian has a ratsnake problem! Eastern Ratsnakes and Western Ratsnakes are a huge problem for birds and small mammal all across the southern U.S.. I know they're a big problem at my home zoo and limit the birds that can be exhibited.
