Wildbase Recovery - Tuatara

October 2024
Wildbase Recovery is a rehabilitation centre for native NZ birds at the Victoria Esplanade Gardens in Palmerston North (in the lower North Island). Many species can be viewed here during their recovery (before release) and it also houses some permanent residents. It is free to visit.

This enclosure is within their walk-through aviary (currently also housing NZ Pigeon, North Island Kaka, NZ Bellbird, and Red-crowned Kakariki), and houses one male Tuatara. The females are in a separate part of the aviary.
