I didn't notice this while at the park, but while reviewing my photos I saw that some of the specimens (the one in the middle of this group, for example) have darker beards and look more like the nominate Connochaetes t. taurinus subspecies rather than expected C. t. albojubatus. So this herd is possibly hybridized.
