Looks like they have done a really nice job of this Zooish, it looks stunning. Thanks for the photos, hope I get to see it!

Is there still a little pond outside for Mandarin Ducks?

I hope you get to see it too! It really is a good makeover for aviary. The Mandarin Ducks now free range inside the aviary. The outdoor pond area is being converted into a crane paddock.

I couldn't see any signage for the crane paddock when I visited, is there any? And is there just one crane paddock or two? I only saw one crane when I was there, to the left of the entrance, with what I thought was a Sarus Crane, but I'm not sure if that ID was accurate. Do you know what crane species are currently displayed here?

No there isn't signage at present. It is a lone Sarus Crane on display in what was previously the paddock for a pair of Red Crowned Cranes. The paddock across the path used to house a lone White naped Crane as well. The paddocks were vacated a few months ago due to the presence of wild pythons. The Sarus Crane was put on display in December or January, it was relocated from Night Safari.

Thanks Zooish. Glad my ID skills aren't always wrong! I saw it on 30 Dec, so it must have been relocated by then :)

How many species of crane does Jurong (and wider WRS) have? I only saw the Sarus and Crowned Cranes at Jurong. Could they add a species to the Waterfall Aviary?

WRS currently has East African Crowned Crane, West African Crowned Crane, Red Crowned Crane and Sarus Crane. I'm not sure if the White-naped Crane is still around.

They've tried housing Crowned and Demoiselle cranes in the Waterfall Aviary, but it didn't work out for some reason. Perhaps they got territorial and started attacking visitors!
