World of Birds: Western Capercaillie/Harlequin Duck exhibit. June 12, 2022. The ducks are new, and this habitat used to house Smew, Eurasian Hoopoe, and Song Thrush until the past five years ago. Once upon a time, this enclosure housed native woodland birds. The signage also used to feature a discussion on the impact outdoor cats have on native bird populations--sadly removed.
