06/15/2024 - This pigeon is housed in the "What is a nest for" exhibit, where it is housed with other African birds like weavers, starlings, and mousebirds. I want to say Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, but I am not confident in that guess.
I believe that you're right about this being an Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove. It appears to be one of the African Wood-Doves, but it's not a Blue-headed or a Tambourine Dove. There are a few zoos in the U.S. with Emerald-spotted Wood-Doves, but I'm not aware of any Blue-spotted Wood-Doves in U.S. zoos currently (although I believe that there are some in private aviculture). Also, Blue-spotted Wood-Doves have a reddish colored bill, while the bills of Emerald-spotted Wood-Doves are gray to black like this bird.
Thank you for the info. I immediately ruled out Blue-headed and Tambourine Doves as they also have those in World of Birds and are fairly distinct. Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove is the only African dove I could find with similar coloration, and I only looked at African species since the exhibit it was in was purely for African birds (since World of Birds features quite a few mixed-geographic displays).
