Selatan died at Taronga Western Plains Zoo in June 2012 at the age of 21 years and six months. This surpassed the previous longevity record set by her parents, who passed away at 19 years of age. It was later surpassed by her daughter, Kemiri (1994-2017) and then her niece, Mencari (2000-2023).
