Yellow-Footed Rock Wallaby Exhibits

July 26th, 2011.
Does anybody know what species these exhibits were built for and when? Bears? Cats? Canids? I'm guessing they were built in the 1950s or 1960s based on aesthetics.

The real question is, when will they be replaced with something that belongs in the 21st century?

This area was formerly called "Dog and Cat Canyon" and the exhibits were originally built for Canids and Hyaenids as near as I can tell. I remember as a child seeing Mongollian Wolf and Chinese Dhole in grottos such as this.

Late 60s, early 70s. I recall a time when there were three hyena species plus aardwolves represented here.

Could they get anymore fencing in here? with a little thought the centre pair could be reduced to one, the small pointless little step over at the front could probably me removed as well and give a slightly less cluttered look.
just a thought
