Three out of the five indoor exhibits for chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) inside the Ape House in ZOO Antwerpen. All these exhibits are glass fronted and not very large, but combined they give a decent amount of space for the small chimp group as well as the opportunity for them to seek privacy from each other. All the indoor exhibits are furnished with climbing frames and enrichment objects.
The Ape House was built in 1959 in typical 50es style with moated outdoor exhibits and originally housed bonobos, gorillas and orangutans. In 1986 the whole house was renovated and the moats removed to be replaced by covered outdoor exhibits.
